how is this different from running PageSpeed Insights myself?

It’s the same underlying data — we call the Google PageSpeed Insights API on your behalf and display both mobile and desktop results side-by-side with plain-English context. We also capture your URL so we can follow up if you want a deeper fix.

why does mobile score so much lower than desktop?

Google simulates a mid-range Android device on a slow 4G connection for mobile scoring. Most sites are built on fast hardware and forget that ~60% of traffic is mobile. Performance optimizations for mobile matter more than ever for rankings.

what’s a good score?

90–100 is good, 50–89 needs work, 0–49 is poor. For a business website, aim for 90+ on SEO and Accessibility. Performance 70+ on mobile is realistic for most content sites.
